About Catherine

Catherine is a freelance writer and editor living in Berkeley who writes for Self, Ode and Parents, among other publications. When not writing, she experiments with the farmers market’s latest fare in her kitchen, crafts with fabric and paper, takes graduate courses in literature and anthropology, and works in her neighborhood’s new garden. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Oregon’s journalism school and Spanish department, wrote for the daily newspaper The Oregonian, and worked as an editorial assistant at Self until moving to Berkeley. While working at Self, she became the go-to staff member for all things green, penning many articles on how to tread lightly on the planet, and continues to strive for a life that protects resources and reduces waste.
